GRANTS TO TEACHERS

1.   Adaptive Equipment for students with disabilitiesAngie Hoyt – J.D. McCarty - ($993.68 fully funded)

            The funds from this grant will be used to buy communication devices, push switches to activate the adaptive toys and scissors for students with severe physical disabilities.  This equipment will help the students to be more independent and interact and communicate within their environment.

 

2.   Once Upon A TimeLinda Pounds – Madison Elementary - ($910.00 fully funded)

            A book binding machine will be purchased with the funds from this grant to enable students to publish their work.  Young authors will have many books to treasure for years to come showing their writing progress through elementary school.  

 

3.   Off to Work We GoMarcie Stickney – Special Services - ($900.28 fully funded)

            Funds from this grant will purchase slacks, shirts, shoes, belts, ironing boards, irons and watches to allow students with disabilities the appropriate clothing and equipment for their community based employment.

 

4.   HANG it HIGH!Linda Bibb – Cleveland Elementary - ($133.84 fully funded)

            An overhead ceiling mount for a projector will be purchased with the funds from this grant. 

 

5.   You Want Me to Learn About What?!Cari Elledge – Adams Elementary - ($467.61 fully funded)

            High interest books will be purchased with funding from this grant to challenge themselves with the provided activity cards or by continuing research of the topic on their own.

 

6.   Leap to Learn with Frog Math!Robye Jackson – Eisenhower Elementary - ($549.45 fully funded)

            Frog System Learning Games and “Drops in the Bucket” daily review workbooks will be purchased to be used for reinforced practice and mastery of math skills for grades 1-5. 

 

7.   Good Things Come in Big PackagesSherri Dupler, Kim Hager, Jolene Kudrna, Julie Looper and Christy Wheeler – Madison Elementary - ($830.84 fully funded)

            This grant will be used to purchase 39 Big Books that cover all subjects in our curriculum. Big Books allow the students to be more actively engaged in the reading process as they share the job of the reader.

 

 

 

8.   Talk To Me!Skye Worster – Kennedy Elementary - ($984.50 fully funded)

            The funds from this grant will purchase “Talk to Me” which are individual smart talk card readers.  They will teach the English vocabulary through listening and reading skills.  The cards target oral language development, vocabulary development, and English pronunciation through common themes of home and family, school and community, and animals and people.  Students hear the word pronounced, see the picture, and then repeat the word for practice.

 

9.   Show Me the MoneyLianne Attar – Adams Elementary - ($310.12 fully funded)

            Funds from the grant, “Show Me the Money” will be used to purchase a variety of materials to be used in teaching money concepts to kindergarten children.   This grant will provide kindergarten teachers with multiple resources to teach money concepts in whole and small group situations and also for students to learn about money independently.

 

10.    A Real Life Reading SafariLori Flaherty and Misty McGougan – Lincoln Elementary - ($982.80 fully funded)

               This grant will fund a variety of non-fiction, fiction, and reference texts that are full of fascinating facts, surprises, and adventures.  Through the use of these magazine format reading materials, students’ literacy skills will be strengthened.

               This grant will fund a variety of non-fiction, fiction, and reference texts that are full of fascinating facts, surprises, and adventures.  Through the use of these magazine format reading materials, students’ literacy skills will be strengthened.

              

12.    Building our Algebra Skills – Block by BlockErin McCain and Carolyn Anderson – Norman High School - ($907.34 fully funded)

               Algeblocks will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  The use of these blocks will allow students to visualize algebraic concepts such as combining like terms, multiplying polynomials, and factoring polynomials,  just to name a few.

 

 

13.    Active Readers and Effective WritersCarol Wahpepah – Irving Middle School - ($231.19 fully funded)

               Active Readers and Effective Writers will be used to purchase Reading and Writing Sourcebooks for students who scored “limited knowledge” or “unsatisfactory” on the Oklahoma Core Curriculum Test (CRT) in reading.  Struggling readers will use the sourcebooks and work in small groups with the literacy resource teacher in order to help them become active readers and effective writers.

 

14.    Pre-K Tackles the ABCsMelinda Barrett – Wilson Elementary - ($237.38 fully funded)

               The funds from this grant will purchase a 26 book series of Funny Photo Alphabet, a Big Book Funny Photo Alphabet for the whole group lesson, and a set of 26 colorful alphabet bean bags.  The funds will also purchase a tackle box full of ABC tactile ways to explore the alphabet: foam letters, magnetic letters, alphabet puzzle cards, alphabet dice, laces and an activity book.

15.    Stand Straight, Play Great!Linda Bibb – Cleveland Elementary - ($866.70 fully funded)

               Nine instrument stands for the ORFF Barred Instruments will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  The stands will allow players to stand tall and straight and play with better technique because they are able to use good and comfortable downward playing motions with the mallets.

 

16.    Reading with TechnologyWendy Fugate – Cleveland Elementary - ($885.00 fully funded)

            The Edmark Reading Program software is a program designed for students with developmental disabilities who have had trouble learning to read with other reading methods.  This program will provide additional support to students in Grades 3-5 with individualized support in reading, comprehension skills, and basic language skills (capitalization and punctuation).

 

17.    Deserving ReadersMaureen Goldsberry – Alcott Middle School - ($845.53 fully funded)

               Fifty five assorted book titles will be purchased for the Media Center to better serve the MMR students with books that match these students’ abilities and interests.

 

18.    CD x Radius = ComprehensionLeigh Robson – Lakeview Elementary - ($776.05 fully funded)

               The Radius Studio Learning system uses CDs and a card reading system to help students with their comprehension.  The system is designed to strengthen reading skills across the curriculum.

 

19.    Can You Hear Me Now?Lani Garner – Lakeview Elementary - ($749.85 fully funded)

               Three cordless microphones will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  They will allow students and teachers more creativity and flexibility in large group settings.  Weekly assemblies, school functions, large group instruction, special guests and performances for the entire school will utilize these microphones to their fullest.

 

20.    Here’s Looking at You, Kids!Lani Garner – Lakeview Elementary - ($987.99 fully funded)

               Funds will be used to purchase a DLP Projector, a major hardware component in the field of technology.  The projector will be used daily in the music classroom to project images from the computer onto a large screen or white board so all students in the classes can see the words in the PowerPoint format of songs, games, composer studies, or an image from the internet related to the lesson for the day.

 

21.    Nonfiction for Emergent ReadersTiffany Wylie – Truman Elementary - ($780.00 fully funded)

               This project is to develop the nonfiction collection of our school library media program for our emergent readers.  A series of quality of nonfiction books will be purchased to be used in lessons and for student reading.

 

22.    Going GraphicTiffany Wylie – Truman Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

               Both fiction and nonfiction graphic novels strengthen students reading skills and provide motivation for students readers.  This project will create a strong base collection of graphic novels for the elementary library media center.

 

23.    Living the LegacyJan Puls – Truman Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

               This grant would fund 130 admission tickets and bus fare to Harn Homestead in Oklahoma City.  This project will allow 3rd grade students to experience a day in a territorial schoolhouse to study historical events at a homestead.

 

24.    Interactive ResponsesDianna Thompson – Wilson Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

               The money from this grant and additional money from the PTA will purchase an interactive response system with software.  This will enable students to respond to teacher questioning with immediate teacher feedback. 

 

25.    Sing a Song of LearningYasmin Merchant – Adams Elementary - ($551.69 fully funded)

               Sing a Song of Learning is a proposal for a total of 36 Dr. Jean CDs (a set of Nine CDs for each of the four second grade teachers.  These musical CDs will integrate social skills, language arts, science, music, and social studies by providing students with opportunities to relate their learning to music and song through new knowledge and celebrating each other’s successes.

 

26.    Who Are You and Where Are You From?Tara Randol – Adams Elementary - ($486.97 fully funded)

               The funds from this grant would purchase sets of leveled readers for the purpose of teaching the students all about the people and places of the world in which they live.

 

27.    I Am Unique. Wow! You are, too!Cari Elledge – Adams Elementary - ($220.73 fully funded)

               In an effort to help students gain critical understanding of their own and other’s backgrounds while assisting them in recognizing and inevitably empathizing with varying perspectives, a wide variety of multicultural children’s literature will be purchased with funding from this grant.

 

28.    Buckle Down MathLeAnn Chastain – Whittier Middle School - ($262.35 fully funded)

               This grant would purchase a set of 30 test preparation kits to use with each student in my regular math class.  Each kit contains two practice tests which are identical in format to our 7th grade math CRT and a 188-page workbook containing lessons and practice problems for each of our PASS skills.

 

29.    Reading Comprehension? No ProblemSue Swenson – Monroe Elementary - ($584.00 fully funded)

               This grant would be used to fund the purchase of Accelerated Reader quizzes to match the newest books in the library collection.

 

 

30.    Take A StandCarol Golden – Madison Elementary - ($181.44 fully funded)

               This grant will be used to purchase two Xylophone Instrument Stands to elevate our new xylophones so that the students can have easy access to play the instruments.

 

31.    Place Value MagicTeresa Lansford – Kennedy Elementary - ($270.00 fully funded)

               Five sets of five student number flips will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  Second graders often struggle with concepts of place value.  Sturdy Place Value Number Flips will give students unlimited opportunities to practice key place value concepts.

 

32.    Smart TalkDoranne Beavers – J.D. McCarty - ($225.00 fully funded)

               Smart Talk teaches students to hear, see, and say new vocabulary words.  The SmartTalk interactive learning station identifies the picture on the card, uses the word in a sentence, then asks simple questions.

 

33.    You have to see it to believe it!Laura Collins – Wilson Elementary - ($893.60 fully funded)

               This grant will fund an LCD projector.  The LCD projector will allow students to be able to see and learn from lessons on the computer or DVD player.

 

34.    Go Ahead, Manipulate Me!Jennifer Burnes – Alcott Middle School - ($795.18 fully funded)

               This proposal is for the purchase of math manipulatives and aides.  Students learn best when given opportunity for hands-on learning.

 

35.    Motivating Multiplication SuccessKim Lindsay – Kennedy Elementary - ($174.02 fully funded)

               This grant is for 10 copies of Multiplication Motivation, a CD of songs that teach students to skip count.  These CDs would be available for students to check out so that they can practice their multiplication facts at home.

 

36.    Feel the RHYTHM!Linda Bibb – Cleveland Elementary - ($119.90 fully funded)

               Funds will be used to purchase a complete kit containing two books, two CDs, a DVD, and rhythm games that includes two large balls, four circular stretch bands, and 24 small rubber balls so an entire class can participate in Rhythm Games.

 

37.    Graph ItLeigh Robson – Lakeview Elementary - ($287.60 fully funded)

              Present information graphically, create charts for Science, Math, Reading, Social Studies with the use of varied pocket charts and write-on wipe-off charts.

 

38.    Rainbow ReinforcementStephanie Fowler – Irving Middle School - ($239.98 fully funded)

              A Dry Erase Marker Board will be an excellent and colorful visual aid to present new concepts and reinforce previously taught learning strategies.  When concepts are visual and there is repetition, learning is acquired much easier for students with learning disabilities.

 

39.    Brain Building MusicChristy Wheeler – Madison Elementary - ($199.56 fully funded)

              Music purchased with this grant will be used daily in the classroom.  While enjoying the music and movements, students will gain important skills that will carry over to all areas of learning.

 

40.    Projecting SuccessHeather Toney – Jackson Elementary - ($599.99 fully funded)

              This grant will fund a projector.  It will benefit the students greatly by providing them with visuals.

 

41.    Calculations that are no longer overheadCari Elledge – Adams Elementary - ($694.96 fully funded)

              A set of classroom calculators and a matching overhead calculator will be purchased with funding from this grant.

 

42.    How do you compare?Lianne Attar – Adams Elementary - ($207.00 fully funded)

              What do wiggly worms, feet, and people have in common?  They are all fun, bright, and engaging manipulatives that kindergarten teachers will be able to use to support the development of mathematical concepts including but not limited to measurement, patterns, number sense, and data analysis.

 

43.    Love at First SightYasmin Merchant – Adams Elementary - ($469.43 fully funded)

              Love at First Sight will provide students with the opportunity to practice their sight words by using a variety of hands-on center activities which will be purchased with the funds from this grant.

 

44.    Back to the BasicsDeanna Griffith – Lincoln Elementary - ($959.83 fully funded)

              The funding from this grant will allow for the purchase of three Touchmath kits for kindergarten level students, three Touchmath kits for first grade level students, and one set of foam manipulatives.

 

45.    Save our YearbookCandice Pealor – Roosevelt Elementary - ($94.51 fully funded)

              Funds from this grant will purchase a 250 GB external hard drive for a student-created yearbook staff; the students will have more space than the one currently used to save digital pictures and incorporate them into their yearbook.

 

46.    Around the World in 20 PagesMadeline Chapman, Anne Castleberry, Teryle Dionisio, and Caryn Short – Roosevelt Elementary - ($262.50 fully funded)

              Books will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  Students will experience the cultures and people of the world as they travel around the world through the engaging book series, Discover Kids.

 

 

47.    Reading is…A Supper Power!Jamie Johnson – McKinley Elementary - ($805.45 fully funded)

              A set of graphic novels will be purchased with the funds from this grant.

 

48.    Do You See What I See?Twyla Hart – Norman North High School - ($339.91 fully funded)

              This grant will fund the purchase of technology necessary to demonstrate calculator applications to an entire classroom of students.

 

49.    Reading RocksSheryl Schmidt – Norman North High School - ($120.89 fully funded)

              The fund from this grant will purchase two reproducible binders of reading activities that are interesting and fun for students to read.  They are high interest/low reading level materials that meet the needs of students.

 

50.    Interactive Learning is SMARTSue Swenson – Monroe Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              The funds from this grant will be used to purchase SMART Board, which allows for students to learn in a stimulating way.  This interactive way of learning encourages a participatory model of instruction for both teachers and students.

 

51.    Free to InquireDeborah Hill – Norman High School - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              Funds will be used to purchase an initial classroom set of Vernier LabQuest data collection devices.  These high interest and durable handheld “computers” allow students to use the sensors we currently have to collect lab data, analyze that data and report and share it with their teacher and class.

 

52.    Smart Boards for SMARTY PantsFrancisca Jensen – Wilson Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              Smart Boards are effective and energizing tools that allow children to learn through collaboration, discussion, and understanding.  The PTA will match the grant funded to provide this essential tool.

 

53.    Snug as a Bug on a RugRegina Bell – Cleveland Elementary - ($444.00 fully funded)

              This grant will fund one 7’8’’ x 10’9 teaching tool music rug with 24 fun music games.  You can use the floor staff for games, teaching note values, signs and symbols while cultivating a positive classroom management plan.

 

54.    Breaking the ChainsAlisa Stieg – Lakeview Elementary - ($851.00 fully funded)

              Funding of this proposal will purchase two Airliner Wireless Slates, pens, and operating software.  This will enable teachers to use all computer applications from anywhere in the classroom with a wireless slate and pen, resulting in maximum student engagement, thereby increasing student achievement.

 

 

 

 

55.    Working WirelesslyMary Powell – Alcott Middle School - ($872.00 fully funded)

              Funding from this grant will purchase two Airliner Wireless tablets for use in two math classrooms.  These units will enhance the learning opportunities of students within the classroom through hands-on use of technology

 

56.    No Strings AttachedRhonda Slatten and Jennifer Sutton – Alcott Middle School - ($813.00 fully funded)

              Funding from this grant will purchase two Airliner Wireless tablets for use in two language arts classrooms.

 

57.    Read Me, I’m YoursJennifer Burnes – Alcott Middle School - ($864.00 fully funded)

              Funds from this grant will purchase high interest reading materials for struggling readers.  The comprehensive reading kits I am requesting provide age appropriate high interest nonfiction reading materials written at a level that at-risk readers can comprehend.

 

58.    Dock itRegina Bell – Cleveland Elementary - ($299.99 fully funded)

              A Bose SoundDock Digital Music System will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  The sound docking system will give high quality sound to all music that is studied, performed and enjoyed in class.

 

59.    I’ll Take Interactive Technology for $1000 AlexCarrie Feuerborn – Wilson Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              The funds from this grant will purchase a classroom polling system which will create an interactive learning environment in the classroom.  This technology tool provides opportunities of individual and collaborative learning with immediate feedback for students and teachers, yet is portable enough to move from class to class.

 

60.    Can You Hear Me Now?Peggy Black – Irving Middle School - ($670.50 fully funded)

              Ten monitor mount microphones for PCs, ten stereo headsets, and ten digital voice recorders will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  Think of the classroom as a radio station, complete with current events, daily weather, “This day in history,” radio dramas, talk shows, and poetry slams, as well as study guides, booktalks, and online tutorials.  Students and teachers become producers of real world information with webcasts created using microphones and digital recorders.

 

61.    You Are My SunshineVictoria Echols – Longfellow Middle School - ($803.00 fully funded)

              Two sunlit globes will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  The purpose of the piece of equipment is to allow students to see how day and night occur due to the position of the Earth and Sun.  The Sunlit Globe will also allow the students to view how different seasons occur due to the position of the Earth and Sun.

 

 

62.    Did you hear that?Jennifer Forehand – Irving Middle School - ($174.65 fully funded)

              This grant will fund the purchase of headphones to be used in the SuccessMaker computer labs.  SuccessMaker lessons often give verbal instructions to the student making it necessary for each student to have a set of headphones to reduce confusion in the room.

 

63.    Discover Your WorldBrad Talley – Jackson Elementary - ($220.94 fully funded)

              This grant will fund a projector set of KIDS Discover magazines.  They are a fun and effective way for students to read and learn.

 

64.    Mobile MagicBrad Talley – Jackson Elementary - ($699.99 fully funded)

              The funds from this grant will purchase a laptop computer.  It will enhance instruction to students and will also benefit staff members during presentations at faculty meetings.

 

65.    Making Math FunWendi Barry – Adams Elementary - ($608.83 fully funded)

              The funds from this grant will be used to purchase math manipulatives and books to enhance the kindergarten learning experience.

 

66.    Breaking the CodeBeth Gilberg – Roosevelt Elementary - ($374.28 fully funded)

              The funds from this grant will purchase sets one and two of the Academic Success for All Learners Program, which is a series of decodable books.  These books will be read by struggling readers in grades one and two.

 

67.    Interactive Whiteboard Brings the Classroom to LifeAnn Harmon – McKinley Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              This grant will be used to purchase an interactive whiteboard, most often known as a Smart Board.  Through the use of this tool, students can interact with the whiteboard encouraging the kinesthetic learners and helping students better make a learning connection.

 

68.    Learning in a Flash!Audra Plummer – McKinley Elementary - ($269.39 fully funded)

              This grant will fund the purchase of 12 Hot Dots Reading and Math Learning sets.  Students will have the opportunity to learn from over 100 cards, as basic reading and math skills are reinforced.

 

69.    Orienteering Conquers Fear of VectorsDavid Askey – Norman High School - ($391.70 fully funded)

              Twenty four compasses will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  Physics students have a very difficult time visualizing the abstract concept of vectors and the addition of vectors.  The class will use the sport of orienteering to teach vectors to students in a fun way using the school campus as the classroom.

 

 

 

 

70.    Right My WorldTrudy Conners – Norman North High School - ($480.00 fully funded)

              A Whiteboard will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  The Whiteboard will be used to view daily assignments, instructions, overhead projector, and computer monitor using a projector all while stimulating learning.

 

71.    Involve me and I’ll understandLee Ann Rogers – McKinley Elementary - ($409.00 fully funded)

              A wireless tablet enables teachers to provide instruction from anywhere in their in their classroom and allows students to interact with information from their seats.  Teachers and students can create, save, manipulate, and print information from class discussion and research projects.

 

72.    Bringing Learning to LifeLeAnn Chastain – Whittier Middle School - ($613.25 fully funded)

              This grant will purchase a projector.  The teachers will teach lessons on her Airliner, show videos, and access resources on our textbook website, while the students will use it to create PowerPoint presentations of group projects.

 

73.    Hot out of the OvenDeborah Hill – Norman High School - ($700.00 fully funded)

              Funds will be used to purchase new lab equipment to replace broken and outdated equipment.  This will allow successful completion of lab investigations which utilize expensive materials especially for biotechnology studies.

 

74.    Seuss LibraryTeresa Lansford – Kennedy Elementary - ($355.00 fully funded)

              Ten classic Dr. Seuss hardcover books, a set of six Cat in the Hat Science Series hardcover books and four audio CDs with books will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  Having a Dr. Seuss library, students can increase phonemic awareness and reading confidence.

 

75.    Smart Airliner WS 100 Wireless SlateRenee’ Hensley – Wilson Elementary - ($465.60 fully funded)

              An Airliner Wireless Slate will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  The slate will create an interactive classroom which stimulates and encourages greater involvement of all students.

 

76.    LEAP into reading!Skye Worster – Kennedy Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              LEAP into reading is a set of Leapster personal learning tools with story explorer activities for English Language Learners.  These story explorers teach interactive vocabulary, phonemic awareness, syntax, and comprehension to build reading and listening skills.  This grant will help ELL’s develop the essential language skills needed for academic success.

 

77.    Teach me InglésSkye Worster – Kennedy Elementary - ($926.00 fully funded)

              Teach me Inglés is an interactive learning system that features step-by-step activities that provide instant audio and visual reinforcement.  Students will work independently on listening and reading comprehension skills using the English vocabulary.

 

78.    See it…Touch it…Learn it the Smart way!Laura Collins – Wilson Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              The funds from this grant will purchase a Smart Board interactive Whiteboard.  The additional funding will be provided by the PTA to bring this amazing technology tool into the classroom.

 

79.    Tinikle, Tinikle, Little Stars!Lani Garner and Keith Vermillion – Lakeview Elementary - ($795.55 fully funded)

              Funding for this project will allow the purchase of 15 pairs of authentic bamboo Tinikling poles, 15 pairs of durable practice Tinikling poles, as well as 2 DVDs and 2 CDs to help with instruction of Tinikling in our classrooms.  All students will benefit from this joint adventure through a combined Music/PE unit, helping improve students’ coordination, endurance, agility, and strength while involving critical thinking and expression as the students explore an age-old tradition through movement.

 

80.    Career CornerBonnie Meisel – Lakeview Elementary - ($448.15 fully funded)

              This grant proposal named Career Corner will be used to purchase a collection of resources to be used by the school counselor, classroom teacher and students to investigate a variety of occupations in the classroom setting.

 

81.    Bridging the Gap Between Reading and UnderstandingCarrie Lowe – Irving Middle School - ($206.90 fully funded)

              Language Arts students will be able to develop and practice essential comprehension skills through the purchase of a comprehension skills program and a set of reading comprehension games.

 

82.    Look, I’m on TV!Heather Toney – Jackson Elementary - ($333.98 fully funded)

              This proposal is for a camcorder to use in the classroom and beyond.

 

83.    Reading and Writing CornucopiaNancy Harrington – Jackson Elementary - ($488.23 fully funded)

              This project includes a variety of items to target students’ reading and writing skills.  It includes an electronic handwriting tutor, two work and vocabulary building games, two literacy centers, and three electronic dictionary/thesaurus spell checkers (one talks!).

 

84.    Word Problems – No Problem!Nancy Harrington – Jackson Elementary - ($385.00 fully funded)

              This grant is for two word problem kits: one addition/subtraction and one multiplication/division.  The kits include reproducible worksheets, lessons number lines, and flashcards designed to help students understand the vocabulary and simplify the process of solving word problems.

 

85.    Radical Recorder RoundupMegan Pettitt and Sherri Logan – Kennedy Elementary - ($977.34 fully funded)

              This grant will fund the purchase of recorders for use in fourth and fifth grade Recorder Ensemble.  Students will experience all aspects of music in an unusual and fun way through the use of these instruments.

              Overhead projectors and chalkboards are not good at conveying information. This grant will allow the use of the projector to have visual confirmation of class discussion reviews, access to PowerPoints, and internet from one location.

 

87.    Hands on Math for EveryoneSusan Maloney – Adams Elementary - ($149.00 fully funded)

              Math manipulatives will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  Students learn best when teachers use manipulative instructional strategies that combine “see-hear-do” activities.

 

88.    Let THEM see the Music!M’Lynn Emanuel – Lincoln Elementary - ($847.53 fully funded)

              Let THEM see the Music is a proposal for a LCD Projector to be used with the newly adopted Music curriculum.  The projector will be used to present songs, music games, listening maps, related internet links and PowerPoint presentations for assemblies and grade level programs.

 

89.    Windows of OpportunityMelodye Pipes, Kim Flores, Deanna Griffith – Lincoln Elementary - ($887.65 fully funded)

              The funding from this grant will purchase four communication hardware devices called Pocket Go Talks for use in school and community settings.  These devices will provide students of non-verbal or limited communication skills the same access as their peers to social and educational opportunities.

 

90.    Can We Hear That Again!Carmi Scheller – Lincoln Elementary - ($922.80 fully funded)

              This grant will fund the purchase of read along books with tapes/CDs.  These materials are needed to enhance listening comprehension and provide a model for oral presentation of story.

 

91.    Hear Ye! Hear Ye!Jaime Lundgren – Jackson Elementary - ($703.35 fully funded)

              The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a CD/Cassette Listening Center and books on tape/CD at multiple reading levels.  This will accommodate students with a range of reading abilities and interests.

 

92.    Show and TellSharon Ibach – Cleveland Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              The purchase of an interactive Electronic Smart Board and mobile stand combined with an existing projector and computer, becomes a large, touch sensitive display for instruction for the first time at our school site.  The touch screen capability of a video game with the drawing flexibility of whiteboard markers will transform teaching in almost every subject area.

 

93.    Smooth As GlassAudra Plummer – McKinley Elementary - ($493.90 fully funded)

              This grant will fund the purchase of 144 books of the Reading for Fluency young reader series.  These readers will be used to help turn young readers into fluent readers.

 

94.    We Like to Move It, Move It! – Shannon Emmons – McKinley Elementary - ($52.90 fully funded)

              Students will be able to get up and move while learning time and measurement skills with the purchase of a large analog clock mat and ruler floor mat.  These mats will help all learners, especially kinesthetic learners.

 

95.    Feedback: Fast and FunShayna Kutt – Norman High School - ($825.00 fully funded)

              Ten (10) Markerboards with markers and erasers will be purchased with the funds from this grant.  Differentiated instruction and assessment relies on constantly checking students’ depth of understanding.  With individual student markerboards, quick checks and immediate responses can show progress.

 

96.    Oh How Corny!Angela Redman – Norman North High School - ($96.75 fully funded)

              Practice is the name of the game in math and students need fun ways to get that review.  The funds from this grant will purchase resource books that use puzzles to practice math concepts.

 

97.    Raising the Bar by Meeting the Software ChallengeAlan Winters – Norman North High School - ($986.47 fully funded)

              Funds from this grant will fund the purchase of a modern computer that would allow my students to use the extensive training I have received on this software to improve and enhance an already rigorous curriculum.

              Write On will provide students an extra edge in completing writing activities.  Several students will be able to move through the writing process using NEO keyboards.

              “It’s a Novel Idea” is a reading program geared toward hesitant readers in the second through fifth grade classroom.  Students will be provided high interest/controlled vocabulary novels from various genres including mysteries and historic fiction.

 

100.    SMARTrooms are InteractiveNicki Watkins – Truman Elementary - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              Classrooms can be “SMARTrooms” with the addition of an interactive Whiteboard, widely known as a Smart Board.  This tool will allow students to view a variety of websites and computer generated data/pictures as well as interacts with them to accommodate a number of learning styles and encourage a “problem” based curricula.

              Funds from this grant will be used to purchase new lab equipment to replace broken and outdated current equipment.  This will allow more successful completion of lab investigations which utilize expensive materials especially for biotechnology studies.

              This grant will fund the purchase of calculators, compasses, protractors, and teacher resource books.  These tools will aid seventh grade math students through the Connected Mathematics geometry lessons.

 

110.    A Picture is Worth A Thousand WordsMarie Manning, Amy Szarka, Larissa Luther, and Michelle Sudbury – Washington Elementary - ($644.96 fully funded)

              Funds from this grant would purchase 4 digital cameras to use in the classroom.  Students could make class books, creative writing activities, use them for field trips, use for the website, and just keep a record of activities the students have participated in during the year.

 

111.    Let’s Do the MathSusan Crane, Sandra Gerding, Stephanie Parker, and Brenda Wilkins – Alcott Middle School - ($626.85 fully funded)

              Skills Enhancement and Resource teachers at our school have reported gains with their students since they began using the Buckle Down Reading series.  We would like to duplicate this success for our students in the area of mathematics. Funding of this grant would purchase classroom sets of Buckle Down on Math.

 

112.    21st Century Show ‘N TellKim Caldwell – Alcott Middle School - ($718.99 fully funded)

              The ELMO Document Camera takes “show ‘n tell” to a new level….into the 21st century that is.  When using the document camera, student work, primary documents, maps, newspapers, books and much more can be projected clearly on the screen through the LCD projector.

              This grant will be used to purchase 36 magnetic dry erase boards, markers, and erasers.  Students will use these materials to enhance reading, mathematics, and language arts lessons.

              The items funded by this grant include viewscreen graphing calculators and TI-Presenters which will allow teachers to “Wow” their students with the “light-bulb” moments that can only happen as those students are exposed to mathematics visually.  By connecting these technologies to LCD projectors already in use, teachers will create an engaging environment that inspires use of the graphing calculator by all students.

 

117.    Projecting EducationLinda McCollum – Whittier Middle School - ($710.00 fully funded)

              This proposal will fund one LCD projector to be used with online math instruction, projects, Smartboard technology and an Airliner.  The projector allows every student in the classroom to see and interact with what the teacher is doing in the front of the room.

 

118.    LCD means “Less Classroom Disruptions”Dondi Thompson – Whittier Middle School - ($710.00 fully funded)

              Technology in the classroom helps to keep students focused and engaged in the lessons.  LCD projectors, along with a computer, can engage students through the use of videos, illustrations, graphs, and other instructional documents.

 

119.    Projecting the Smart WayTerry Littlejohn – Whittier Middle School - ($1000.00 fully funded)

              This grant would fund one LCD projector to be used with e-instruction technology and curricular enrichment experiences.  It will be used with a Smartboard interactive Whiteboard.

 

120.    Show Me and I’ll LearnAnn Miller – Eisenhower Elementary - ($395.10 fully funded)

              Funds from this grant will purchase 18 books to present Science and History, which are difficult topics, in an easy to understand format that will entice readers to pick up the book and enjoy reading and learning.
